{"id":270,"date":"2014-02-28T10:25:40","date_gmt":"2014-02-28T18:25:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cronymag.com\/c\/?p=270"},"modified":"2014-02-28T10:38:26","modified_gmt":"2014-02-28T18:38:26","slug":"dan-beachy-quick-family-poem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/cronymag.com\/c\/?p=270","title":{"rendered":"Dan Beachy-Quick: &#8220;Family Poem&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A flower today I was sitting green<br \/>\nflew between my face and the screen<\/p>\n<p>I didn\u2019t have to imagine my trouble<br \/>\nI don\u2019t really like closing my eyes<\/p>\n<p>Plato and puzzles I like opening<br \/>\nAll the drawers that are closed<\/p>\n<p>*<\/p>\n<p>I worry when my stomach hurts<br \/>\nAnd worry others are the same as me<\/p>\n<p>Growing old, regrets, worry life is<br \/>\nToo short, worry time is not enough<\/p>\n<p>The bones of dinosaurs in the ground<br \/>\nWorry I don\u2019t know about greatness<\/p>\n<p>*<\/p>\n<p>they\u2019re nice, not always, all of them<br \/>\nthe ones I love, I love<\/p>\n<p>to sit in a chair made of string, love<br \/>\nthe bright green shirt, love<\/p>\n<p>when in the morning the earth hugs<br \/>\nevery bed and all the stories are told<br \/>\nin questions: a bird? A duck?<\/p>\n<p>*<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s so obvious you don\u2019t know what it is<br \/>\nA snake?<\/p>\n<p>That right.<br \/>\nNow I see the eyes.<\/p>\n<p><em>Dan Beachy-Quick is the author, most recently of, <\/em>An Impenetrable Screen of Purest Sky<em> and a critical study on John Keats, <\/em>A Brighter Word then Bright: Keats at Work<em>.
